1. Forming Process

A metal sheet is formed by pressing it in a die to produce the desired shape. This process can be used for both ferrous and non-ferrous sheet metals. In both processes, metal sheets are designed with one or more of the following considerations in mind; weight, strength, cost, production rate, and surface finish.

· Stamping: Sheet metal stamping is one of the most widely used forming processes for non-ferrous metals. This process starts with a die or set of dies that are shaped according to the desired part shape and then closed against a workpiece, forcing it into an undesired shape.

· Stretching: The stretching process is employed to modify the shape and thickness of metal. Depending on the type, there can be two or more rolls that rotate about parallel axes- one axis being stationary while the other rotates clockwise or counterclockwise.

· Bending: In metal bending, a force is applied to a piece of metal to change the shape. There are many different types of bending processes.

· Roll forming: Roll-forming is a sheet metal working process that uses two rotating mandrels to shape the workpiece into various profiles and cross-sections without punching it, cutting it, or heating it. This bending technique requires pressure from both ends of the material being rolled for shaping.

· Punching: Sheet metal punching is an ideal way to produce holes in any workpiece without getting virtually any burrs.

Sheet Metal Design

Most sheet metal design consists of two steps. In these processes, the metal is heated to a liquid state before being poured into a mold cavity or onto an open sheet of steel where it hardens as it cools.

· Temporary Molds Aluminum Casting

2. Cutting process

The metal is cut into the designed shape. This is done by using stationary or swinging blade saws, shears, and guillotine presses. Additionally, tools like Chop saws, Miter saws, and Band saws can also be used in cutting.

3. Joining processes

This is where two or more pieces of metal are fused by a process like welding, brazing, soldering, or riveting
